The cheese not only enhances the flavour of the pasta but it brought a group of food lover together. I can only credit this to God for His kindness and generosity. It is God who brought all of us together to enjoy in such a simple meal. It is God who gave me this gift of cooking through His grace. It is God who sustains and supplies for everything needful in the kitchen to His glory. It is God who will have all the glory and honor. At the end of the night, I only want to praise His name. May Kitchen Fellowship continue to be a blessing to many souls in need of a warm meal and a good fellowship. Well, from the name itself, you can expect HOT, SPICY & NUMB!! That's right. Everyone was having a great time although some of them complained that it was too hot for their tongue. The broth was prepared by brothers from China so you can expect it to be authentic Chinese food. Not only that, we had the opportunity to dip our food with China special sauce - the sesame seed sauce. However, the best thing of the night was the word of God shared by Jeff. It is taken from Psalm 119:97-104.

Szechuan Steamboat..Sizzling HOT!!!

Psalm 119:97-104

Oh, how I love your law!

I meditate on it all day long.

Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,

for they are ever with me.

I have more insight than all my teachers,

for I meditate on your statutes.

I have more understanding than the elders,

for I obey your precepts.

I have kept my feet from every evil path,

so that I might obey your word.

I have not departed from your laws,

for you yourself have taught me.

How sweet are your words to my taste,

sweeter than honey to my mouth!

I gain understanding from your precepts;

therefore I hate every wrong path.

Japanese Night

Last night I had a surgery. A gruesome 6 hours long of surgery on my sushi. Japanese food is not "play play". It requires a lot of patience and skills. It is an art of cooking. However, after all the hard work, the result was satisfying. We are also blessed by Acts 2:42 - "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." This verse which I read truly reminds me of what a church should be. Churches started in small groups where they would gather together to listen to the apostle as they taught under the inspiration of God. Everyone was selling off what they had and they shared the profit together so that no one was left without food and basic necessities.

As I am reminded of Kitchen Fellowship, I'm touched by God's kindness and generosity in providing and blessing Kitchen Fellowship. We always had enough to share God's love with others through food. Well, help me by praying for this ministry that it will keep on blessing souls and exalting the name of God.

The Japanese food fans - from left: Ai Hua, Alvin, Chris, Abe, Diana, Wei Yee and KC

The Sushi Platter - i forgot the names, only remembered gyoza..haha..

This sauce is SUPER DELICIOUS but it puts a hole in your pocket

Mouth Watering

Kitchen Fellowship 1st Anniversary

Today is 31 March 2009 marking the first anniversary of Kitchen Fellowship. As I prayed silently in my room just now, I just can't stop giving praise to God.

I do not know if what I'm doing be good to Him, I do not know if it's bearing fruits, I do not know what others feel when they have that simple hot meal but I do pray that they will be touched by the love shown, that they will experience the love of Christ.

I just hope and pray that God will continue to bless this ministry, to use it and minister to the people in need. May God lead those whom he has chosen to enjoy in such simple yet heart-filling meal in Kitchen Fellowship.

I also would like to thank those who prayed and supported Kitchen Fellowship. Thank you for your efforts and your love for the people too.

I pray that by God's will, Kitchen Fellowship will be able to expand and to bless more souls. I just hope to be able to learn more recipes and to grow in my love for God, to grow deeper in love with Him. Praise the Lord for He provides everything needful for His glory.

I shall end with this simple verse.
Psalm 31:3 - For you are my rock and my fotress and for your name's sake, you shall lead me and guide me.

Amen.
Matthew Wong.

The Iranian Night

I only have one word to describe the Iranian night. Sour. The food are basically sour in taste with all the herbs brought from Iran. But the food that caught my attention was the rice. Well, for your information, the rice that they use are the same as ours but it is cooked in a way that it is fragrant and smooth. They have also invented a lot of ways to cook their rice. one was with meat and it was green in color and the other was with a special herb which was also sourish. I would love to know their recipe. To conclude it, we had a great night, the food was tummy-opening and eye opening, although the yoghurt was really sour. I LOVE THE RICE...

One of the Iranian food: love love..haha..

He Provides

Of First Importance
He knows what we need
Posted: 15 Feb 2009 09:35 PM PST
“Everything is necessary that he sends. It was a good time eating together on Valentine's Day. Also a day for lonely bachelors to seek comfort. Haha. Hmmm, what did we had? I cooked tom yam kung, green curry chicken, green apple salad, black peppercorn chicken and the Thai version of devil's egg. It is truly delicious but what's more memorable was the sharing did on that night. Blane led us to look at John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall never perish but have eternal life. Truly the love of God is so wide that He can accept anyone who needed His love. We are all sinners condemned to hell but we always thought that we could save ourselves based on our merits and good works. How wicked is man to think that one can be saved without the grace of God. Because of His great love, we have hope, a hope that restores our relationship with God. Therefore, I pray that you would accept this wonderful love and live out your faith in obedience to God. Praise the Lord.

Here's the recipe.
4 eggs.
2 tbsp of coriander leaves.
1/2 cup of prawns/shrimps. (Cook it in boiling water for 3 to 4 minutes)
1/2 cup of crab meat. (Cook it in boiling water for 3 to 4 minutes)
2 tbsp coconut milk.
Salt.
Pepper.

First, boil the eggs. Stir the eggs in a clockwise motion for the first 3 minutes to make sure that the yolk remains in the center. Then let it simmer for 12 minutes. After that, immediately cool it down with cold water and peel the shells off. Cut it into half and use a fork to dig out the egg yolk.

Mash the egg yolks and add in the remaining ingredients. Mix it evenly and then fill back the mixture into the eggs again.

And there you have it, Thai version of the Devil's eggs.

Thai Night

We are preparing to launch a Thai night this Saturday and it has been really exciting getting into the action-packed kitchen war..haha..
I came across this verse in Psalm 37:26, "He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing."
This is truly beautiful as we reflect upon the graciousness of our Lord in providing for us and not only that, to make us a blessing for others. Throughout the Kitchen Fellowship ministry, I have really been thankful for all his providences and not only that, it was enough to bless the souls that needed it. Pray with me as we give thanks to God for his goodness and praying that He will continue to guide us and call us to be a part of His plan.

Thanks.

Pray

Hey, sorry for not blogging for so long..well, this is because the chef is in school..haha..soon-to-be chef pastor..a new name..kinda cool..
Well, we are taking it slow this year. If we are called to remain small and serve the community we live in, may His name be glorified too.

Thanks.

New Desserts

Triffle..my cousin taught me..Yummy..

Moist Chocolate Cake..So Delicious..Paul made it..

We had "Dessert Day" last week and we made moist chocolate cake and also triffle..It was a wonderful day and I had the chance to teach Paul not the apostle on how to bake cake. And as we are being sanctified by grace day by day, God's holiness will show us that our lives are filthy, dirty and disgusting. Praise Him for everything that had happened over the month. Praise Him for the blessed souls that came into the fellowship. Praise for providing everything needful for His glory. Praise Him for the opportunity to worship Him in every way. Praise Him for the food. Praise Him for the Body of Christ. Praise Him for leading and guiding us. Praise Him for everything and may these praises go back to Him who is worthy of all these. May we continue to be humble and may Christ be exalted in our lives. To Him be all glory and praises. Amen.

Reflection

Hiding in my room right now while the ladies are having their chit chat club, I'm reflecting on the events that had happened during the Worldview Campaign. It has been an exciting and wonderful experience getting to know new people and also knowing that lives of different people were changed through this campaign. During the first night, we got to know that God is the Creator of the Universe and that He had created us; the Intelligent Designer. It is truly awesome and humbling to know that He loves us so much although we are so small. At the second night, knowing that God is the Great Sculptor and we are constantly being sculpted brings much comfort to those who are enduring trials and sufferings. We know that God will never leave us, nor forsake us. (Heb 13:5). To add up to all the excitement, we learnt that we have hope in God during the third night. God does not leave us alone here on Earth to search for our own salvation but He came down, humbling Himself to the form of a human being to be with us and to provide a way for us through the sacrifice made on the cross. Praise God for accomplishing everything to His glory. And last Monday, Blane spoke about the purpose of our lives and that is to glorify God's name, to proclaim of His greatness and also to tell people of the good news of salvation. What a joy when a saint walks in the way that is pleasing to His Lord. Well, I just can't wait for the finale, the Cambodian Night when we will be talking about a very important issue, "Where do we go after death?". Don't miss this night for it is filled with good food, exciting talk and also the warmth you will get from the fellowship of brothers and sisters in this house.

I will end with this verse, something that i find truly memorable.
Luke 15:7
"I say to you likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."

Kitchen Fellowship Newsletter

Hey guys and girls, we have just completed a Kitchen Fellowship Newsletter so if you would like to read it, just drop me an email or let me know. At 7pm, people started arriving at our door step. There were 14 newcomers and we started out with a simple game, "Kung Pow Chicken". A group of Californians introduced this game and we fell in love with it immediately. Everyone had fun playing this mind-boggling game. At 7.30pm, the feast began. I introduced all the dishes that was on the table; patties, cabbages, white curry, lampries curry (it is a curry with 4 different meats; lamb, pork, chicken and beef but i made it with lamb and chicken only), okra and pumpkin. It was so good. At 8.30pm, we made a short introduction on all of our new friends, on the purpose of this night, the student center and also on what to expect tonight, the topic was, "From where did I come from?" But before the talk, KC and the Sunshine band kickstarted the night with 2 songs; indescribable and Prince of Peace. After that, Matthew Grace (I'm Matthew Mercy) gave a short talk on the topic. He highlighted God as the creator of everything. That the Sun is a few hundred times bigger than the earth and not only that, there are 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Suns in the universe. Just imagine that. God is the creator of all the universe. The Bible told us that God holds the universe on the palm of His hand. How small are we to procrastinate against Him. After such an awesome talk, we had a session of Q & A. It was a good time of discussing different worlviews. At the end of the day, everyone was tired but our heart was glad. Praise the Lord for everything.

Can't wait for Gumbo night today at 7pm. Once the Lord starts His work, it will be done on the day of glorification. We are only but His tool of righteousness, having the heartfelt urgency to proclaim who God is and the work He had accomplished at the cross. Paul had proclaim it to the men of Athens who God is in Acts 17 and making clear that a day will come when judgment will happen as God had given proof to everyone. Anwyay, praise the Lord for 2 wonderfully planned testimonies.

Over the past one week, I had the chance to invite 2 friends on 2 different nights over for Kitchen's Fellowship. On Tuesday night, a few friends came over and together, i was reading the Word of God before meals. It was a great time. After that, i started chatting with one of them and got the opportunity to share the gospel with her. And i read from Acts 17. On Thursday night, i started a Kitchen's Fellowhsip theme song, we sang over meals and it was wonderful. The song was great although it is a bit awkward as not many knew the lyrics and i only had a piece with chinese words, another with the english translation and another with the 'han ying ping yin'. Haha. I actually invited 5 over but only 1 came, praise the Lord again. After that, the one, as she was a bit bored, looked at a bible on the floor and started reading it aloud. Haha. She started from the book of Genesis. All of us share with her as she stopped at certain point and started asking questions. I also shared Acts 17 with her. At the end, she brought the bible back home. Well, each and everyone of us was speechless. What a blessing through Kitchen's Fellowship where we could proclaim God's name to the hearts and souls that needed the saving power of the gospel.

Everything was wonderfully planned.

Blessed Souls

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247655013562714594" style="DISPLAY: block; My housemate, Paul, made this soup out of curiousity..mmhmmm..well,it is actually because the fruit was so sour that he regretted buying it so it was an attempt to destroy all the fruits as soon as possible..haha..It was a great night especially with the word of God.

The old covenant sets a distance between us and God. When God met with His chosen one, Moses, He told him to take off his sandals for he stands on holy ground. God even set boundaries for the people of God; He prohibits them from setting foot on Mount Sinai. Even in regards to the tabernacle of God, only the priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year. This shows us that God is serious about the loathsome sins that is setting us apart from Him. However, we rejoice knowing that the new convenant has bring us the nearness of God. We are no longer considered as lepers. (Lepers are the outcast of the society because of their skin disease. It is true to us that sins cover us entirely like a deadly disease that rots our souls). Jesus came and with Him, the covenant of grace. Those who receives His free gift of salvation are no longer considered lepers but children of God. Praise the Lord for the works He has done. We are now able to come near to God through the justification of the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I Made BLENDED OREO

Yeah..at last i got a blender from Tesco today and made blended oreo. It's really awesome and while watching it, tears flowed down my eyes especially when there was a part when everyone was just confessing their sins and coming back to God, their Creator. Just a few green leaves and cherry tomatoes but it turns out to be something else in the end. Guess what? It is totally awesome. So, i really wanted to share this with you. First, you will have to get the ingredients. A box of cherry tomatoes, 3 washed potatoes, 2 large eggs, butterhead green leaves, 1 onion, 1 tablespoon of butter and 3 tablespoon of mayonnaise.

So, start by boiling the eggs until it is a hard-boiled egg. How do you know if it is a hard-boiled egg? When there isn't any bubbles coming out of the egg. While waiting for that, peel off the potatoes and then cut it into cubes, the size you want it to be. Bring it to boil for at least 10 minutes or until it is soft. Remember to add some salt into the water. While waiting for that too, clean the green leaves and place it into a salad bowl. Then cut the cherry tomatoes into halves and place it into the bowl too. Add in some chopped onions and then mix it together. Now, the potatoes should be just nice. Drain the water away and then mix it with butter. Next, mash the eggs in another bowl. Add the potatoes and the mashed eggs into the salad bowl and then mix it all together with the mayonnaise too.

And there you have it, the "rojak" salad. Well, as long as it tastes good, whatever lahh...

Simplicity

Last night we had a simple gathering, just the 3 of us having a simple meal. Before meal, I had the urge to share from the devotional book that I commonly use at Kitchen's Fellowship. If there would be friends coming, we will start our meal after a simple prayer but if there would be brothers and sisters in Christ, we would start with a simple devotion. However, last night was special. The urge to share was there. Maybe it's time for the harvest. Only God in all His wisdom and knowledge knows.

Many at times, we would have to see signs and wonders to believe in God. One would say, "If a rush of emotion suddenly swept through me for no reason whatsoever, I would believe or that would strengthen my faith" but what if God never does that during your time on earth. Another would say, "If only I had a dream about the Messiah, then I would believe" but what if God never will fulfill your desire. Who are we to dictate what God should and should not do. Isn't the gospel a proof enough for us to believe in Him? Isn't His promise, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" an assurance to our faith. Faith is believing in something that we cannot see. If we are able to see what we hoped for, will there be any hope at all? Therefore, may the Lord opens our eyes to see the truth of the gospel, His Word, the Bible as the source of strength to our faith.

Give Thanks

Tonight was wonderful because my friend came with her brother and he made omelet cheese. It was fantastic. Not only that, I made pork trotter stew with potatoes. Yummy. It was a good time of fellowship and all the more because it was blessed with the encouraging Word of God.

At times of suffering and trials, Christians will find no other place to put their trust in but to God alone. When we are friendless, helpless and hopeless, we would run towards the everlasting arms of God and it is there that we find comfort in times of trouble, peace in times of turbulent storm, mercy in times of abandonment, grace in times of persecution, security in times of vulnerability and love in times of trouble. When we are weak and the weight of the world in pressing down against us, we find strength in our Lord and a shoulder to bear the burdens for us. When we are poor and life seems to be on the verge of hopelessness, we find richness of spirit in our Lord and assurance in the sovereignty of our Lord.

Unbelief would be a dishonor to the name of our Lord. Therefore, let us run towards Him knowing that all things, be it, sufferings or goodness are under the control of our Lord. Every circumstances shall be nothing to us but a heart of gladness, giving thanks to God. In the end, God's name shall be glorified.

At the end of our sharing, we sang Give Thanks and made a simple prayer.

Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the Holy One,
Give thanks because He has given,
Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now, let the weak say I am strong,
Let the poor say I am rich,
Because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks.

Mushroom Soup Recipe

Hey hey, I am here to share with you the mushroom soup recipe. Well, do give any feedback on how i could improve it next time but this is what you need first; 2 cans of campbell mushroom soup, a cube of chicken stock, swiss brown mushroom, white button mushroom, brown button mushroom, enoki mushroom, 3 stalks of celery, a can of fresh corns, 3 potatoes, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning and bay leaves.

First, slice all the mushrooms and celeries and leave it aside. Next, cut the potatoes into small cubes. After that, boil a pot of water (at least 8 to 10 cups) and when it is boiling, add in the campbell mushroom soup and also the chicken stock. Leave it to boil for a few minutes then you add everything inside except the Parmesan cheese. (This might sound lazy but my mum always told me that the secret to boil soup is to dump everything inside). Leave it to boil for about half an hour while stirring it occasionally.

While it is boiling, you can start doing garlic bread. It is simple. You will need a stick of baguette, minced garlic and butter. First, mince the garlic like mincing pork meat. Next, spread the butter on the nicely sliced bread and then place the garlic and some italian seasoning on top. Send the bread into the oven and toast it for 5 minutes.

Having done with that, you can add Parmesan cheese into your soup and let it boil for a few minutes. After that, place the yummy soup onto a plate and then decorate it with brocoli on top. Remember to have the brocoli "fly over water", it means to blanch it first. Haha.

Wa lau wehh..so nice with the garlic bread. Those who are reading must be hungry right now. Haha. Well, sorry, there's no picture but let me describe the flavour and texture. It is creamy, cheesy, rich in flavour and most important, filled with the grace of God.

Hate evil, you who love the Lord

That was the title of the Word being shared during Kitchen's Fellowship last Wednesday. It was a great time coming together with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ prior to Bible Study. Over the simple meal, we learnt what it meant by holy hatred. It is not a human emotion of hatred but it is a hatred towards sins and things that are against God. Let's take a moment to ponder upon ourselves and look into things that are not pleasing to God; pride, arrogance, anger, rage, malice, jealousy and the list goes on.

We should not give place to sin at all in our life. If we love the Lord, we would hate sin. If we love to see His name glorify, we would hate things that pollutes His name. If we love to obey His commandments, we would hate things that would stop us. If we love the Lord, we would at all cost make sure that sin does not have a foot step in our life.

Well, praise the Lord for the desire to love Him comes from Him too, therefore, the Holy Spirit would be more than glad to guide and lead us, making sure that as we pray, we would pray to look at things the way the Lord would look at, to hate what He hates and to love what He loves.

The Oreo Recipe

You should try this at home. My friend's brother made this and it was awesome. You will need a pack of oreo, ice cubes, sugar and fresh milk.

First, add in 8 to 10 ice cubes into a blender and then, fill in with milk until it covers up the ice. Next, add in one teaspoon of sugar and also the oreos. Remember, 3 to 4 oreos per person. After that, blend everything together until it is smooth.

Here's a few tips to achieve the perfect drink.
If there is not enough taste, add in another teaspoon of sugar.
If it is still not up to your standard, add in 1 or 2 oreo and blend it again.
If the colour is too dark, add in more milk.

If you desire to have it minty, add in 5 to 6 ecllipse mint.

Serve it in a nice cup and decorate it by placing one oreo on top of the drink. There you have it.
The famous Oreo Drink. Try this at home but do let your mother know that you are going to mess up the blender and the kitchen. It was a quiet afternoon and the aroma of the mushroom soup filled the whole house. Abe and I was creating the special secret recipe. It was as if we were creating the powerpuff girls but we lacked Chemical X. Haha. Anyway, we threw in anything we got from Tesco and also anything we could find inside the refrigerator. There are button mushrooms, brown swiss mushrooms, enoki mushrooms and brown mushrooms. Not only that, we added celery, chicken peas, parmesan cheese, corn and potatoes. Not to forget also is 2 large campbell-mushroom-soup cans. It was a recipe for disaster but it turned out "perfecto". P.S: The combination of mushroom soup and garlic bread was "emmmuack".

The best thing was the Word that was being shared. It was about the covenant that God has made before the beginning of time. It was the covenant of grace. Grace that carries the weight of sin in this world, grace that provides the way to Him, grace that preserves our faith till the day He returns or till the day we see Him, grace that sends down that perfect gift and grace that glorifies His name. What a wonderful thing to know that the grace of God is all-sufficient and it is being renewed daily.

At the end of the day, nothing beats the fragrance of grace filling the whole house as we ate together under the grace of God.

Another One?

Haha, don't be suprised.
